Now I’ll explain COD’s most famous game mode, multiplayer. This time the online experience may feel different. Other than just ranking up and unlocking weapons, you do the same thing except rather than just being able to use them right away, you have to pay for them. Not with real money but with whats called COD points.

COD points are currency in the game that allows you to buy weapons, perks, attachments, etc. You earn them by completing games, ranking up (sometimes), or by completing contracts. Contracts are also new to the online experience and it makes the game more interesting. You can purchase contracts that allow you to get a certain amount of COD points or experience. But you are timed (in game) and it may make this more nerve racking. For example, you purchase a contract for 25 COD points and all you have to do is win 2 Team Deathmatch games. Failure to complete that in 40 min. of the game will make you lose your money and you get nothing. So this is like a gamble.

Another thing new in this year’s multiplayer mode is wager matches. Wager matches are game modes that allow you to gamble your money and hopefully let you win some more. There are 4 game modes and they are One in the Chamber, Sticks and Stones, Sharpshooter, and Gun Game. Each with its unique way of playing and are all fun. The people with the top 3 scores win some money while others win nothing and end up losing money.

Everything in multiplayer remains from your standard Team Deathmatch, to your intense Search and Destroy, Black Ops has them all. But they are split into 4 sections which are Core, Barebones, Hardcore, and Prestige. Core involves all the game modes and has hud to help you. In barebones you only have 3 kill streaks and there are limited game modes. Hardcore is an intense game category that has Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Free for All, Headquarters, and Search and Destroy. But you have no hud, friendly fire is enabled, bullets are stronger, and its easier to die. Don’t overlook that though because it is really thrilling to wait for the next enemy to show up.
